THE ZEN DOG

Natural Medicine for Dogs

Hi! I am Li  and I’m a qualified Chinese Herbalist & Acupuncturist for dogs. My journey started back in 2013 when I fostered SamSam, an emaciated puppy with lots of health problems. He was found wandering the streets and brought to me for rehabilitation with the aim of finding him a good home. When veterinary medicine could not offer solutions for his health problems, I came across Chinese medicine and the concept of Raw Feeding and from there a whole new world opened up to me. The changes I witnessed in my own dogs encouraged me to spread the word and so I opened Crazy Dog People, the first Israeli group focused on nutrition for dogs. From there I continued to study for three more years to become a qualified Chinese Herbalist & Acupuncturist.

I believe in a holistic approach when treating dogs and that in order to allow the body to heal, we must first restore balance. Therefore my approach will always include looking closely at their nutrition, behaviour, physical wellness, mental wellness as well as lifestyle - to understand where the body has become unbalanced and to create a solid plan to restore it.

The Zen Dog

Chinese Medicine for Dogs

Chinese medicine is a complete and independent system with its own way of diagnosing and treating. Its rich history dates back over 2500 years and for me it represents a bridge between ancient philosophy and modern day ailments.

When treating a dog with Chinese medicine, the aim is to recognize and treat the source of the imbalance rather than the symptoms that the body presents. This can be done with acupuncture, Chinese herbs as well as nutrition and I personally also love to combine aromatherapy to compliment my other tools.

Common conditions that can be treated with Chinese medicine:

  • Behavioral issues like aggression, anxiety, fearfulness

  • Digestive issues, including chronic diseases like IBD

  • Skin problems (hotspots), allergies, chronic ear infections

  • Autoimmune diseases

  • Orthopedic Disorders

  • Bladder infections

  • Chronic kidney failure

  • Cancer

  • Epilepsy

  • Heart Conditions
